Dear Members and Friends,
Happy New Year and warm greetings as we begin 2018!
2017 revealed itself as a year with plenty of accomplishments. During last year, the China General Chamber of Commerce Los Angeles (CGCC-Los Angeles) offered member companies more than 40 events built around sharing knowledge, expanding business relationships, giving back to the community and promoting friendship. Some highlights are below:
- From field visits to BYD, COSCO Asia, Long Beach Container Terminal to C-level executive roundtables, members had many valuable opportunities to learn and exchange ideas.
- Co-hosted lectures with major global service firms helped member companies receive advice from leading industry professionals about how to navigate the risks of investing and conduct business in the U.S. Specific areas discussed focused on taxes, legal and compliance issues, and regulatory and business environment among others.
- Thanks to our sponsors, the Discover China expedition supported 22 exemplary youth leaders selected from 140,000 teenagers in the Greater Los Angeles area, who visited Xiamen, Shenzhen and Shanghai, and more than 10 leading Chinese and American enterprises. This trip not only demonstrated our commitment to engaging with the local community, but created opportunities for American youth leaders to gain an understanding of China and Chinese enterprises. It was well-received by the Los Angeles government as well as Chinese and U.S. media outlets.
I would like to thank you all for your significant and continuous support. CGCC-Los Angeles will continue its mission of promoting collaboration and mutual understanding between Chinese companies, U.S. businesses, communities and stakeholders, and help promote a spirit of collaboration.
We are confident that Chinese investments and enterprises can continue to integrate locally in Los Angeles. Only by working together can we have a positive impact on the local economy and contribute to enhancing U.S.-China relations.
